The Case of the Misplaced Pacifier

Imagine you are preparing for a calm, peaceful trip on a plane with your child. You’ve thought of everything – snacks toys and even new cartoons downloaded to keep them busy. All going well so far, right? Wrong. Just when you think you have got it made, the little rascal decides that this would be a great opportunity to play ‘hide the dummy’– the ONLY dummy. Now, most moms or dads might be wondering “how many places could there be to hide a pacifier on an airplane?”

Well let me tell ya, kids always find out. And believe me we looked everywhere: under chairs inside magazines from the seat pocket in front of us… We even asked other passengers if maybe they had crossed into some weird dimension where all pacis vanish into thin air or something! But as luck would have it, our little genius had dropped it right down into a cup of water – yep, that’s what I said— WATER! thinking maybe it could have a swim.

However not only did it fail to float but also apparently became INVISIBLE too; so there we were trying to scoop it up with a spoon while our son giggled like it was all part of an elaborate joke. Who would’ve thought dummies needed diving lessons?

The Great Diaper Disaster of 2021

Well, going to back in time, let us talk about a big issue which happened last year, 2021, how I thought I was so good at packing while we were traveling which included carrying diapers, wipes among other things. I never knew that my toddler’s digestion could be this bad particularly after they have eaten every single thing around them even the ones they are not supposed to.

While in the middle of our tour attractions site seeing half way through a journey or just some distance off the place; you know that look parents; what happens next is a horror movie itself already shown by its trailer then boom make sure get ready because you will be partaking in it fully absolutely darling that is too much sometimes am afraid there might not even any space left inside me anymore whoa boy did we see this one coming but not really. While stranded at a very crowded tourist destination, my little one let off what might only be referred to as a ‘SCENIC explosion’ (I can’t think of any other way) Yes! I had forgotten spare clothes. pants! How could someone forget pants though?

Apparently only me because I did it So here we were with our baby wearing nothing but his diaper and a souvenir t-shirt making the best out of everything when life hands over lemons make lemonade or let’s say makeshift outfits for toddlers right?

What Have We Learned?

So what are these stories about? You should always bring three times as many pacifiers and never underestimate the digestive capabilities of a toddler. Traveling with toddlers is like being in a sitcom where you’re both the star and the audience. You’ve got to laugh, because, honestly, what else can you do? In the CHAOS of toddler travel, we learn to navigate through diaper disasters and pacifier expeditions with a mix of humor and resilience. And let’s be real, these stories will make great embarrassing tales when they’re teenagers.

Now, as we wrap up, I leave you with this thought: Traveling with toddlers might be UNPREDICTABLE, like a box of chocolates or, more aptly, a box of fireworks. You never know when they’re going to go off, but it’s always a spectacle.
